I can't remember the last time I stayed at a party until the lights came on but I just couldn't help myself at the 27th annual Green Tie Ball, held this year at the fabulous Geraghty (2520 S. Hoyne) to benefit Chicago Gateway Green. Themed "Green Eggs & Glam", the fun began the moment the more than 900
guests walked through the door. The Seussical theme was expertly and colorfully brought to life by Kehoe Designs (see it here on video!) with characters such as Thing 1 and Thing 2, The Grinch and two Cat in the Hats (from ZZAZZ Productions) greeting partygoers with wild enthusiasm! Presented by Wintrust Bank, the event attracted celebs like Chicago Fire's Taylor Kinney and Israel "Izzy" Idonije, who partied with the event headliner, LMFAO's Redfoo! Foo blasted the doors
off the Geraghty during his lenghty set with his signature backup dancers. Attendees danced on and offstage as he electrified the crowd with hits that included "Party Rock Anthem" and "I'm Sexy and I Know It". (See Foo video here!) I saw committee
members Jon Landan and Marco Foster onstage shaking all their tail feathers with so many other BPGs (beautiful party-goers). Ginormous inflated zebras floated out in the crowd and then back onto the stage where drinks were being
poured down willing participants throats while the music throbbed. It was wild!!! It reminded me of my days of dancing on the tables in St. Tropez and I couldn't get enough! Foo brought his A+-game and then some delighting the crowd with his music and congenial personality. He engaged everyone and they/we loved it! Throughout the venue, other activities
included charitable gaming by Rivers Casino. There, I saw more BPGs like Jim Karas and Whitney Lasky looking like they just walked out of a James Bond film, he in a perfectly fitted tux and she in a strapless green cocktail dress looking sexy as hell. That was the crowd who
attended...it seemed like everyone dressed to impress and they succeeded in spades. My glam co-chair, Nina Mariano, slayed in a forest green short dress with a sparkly green pin strategically positioned at the slit. Stunning! Even Lee Golub dressed according to
theme in chic head-to-toe green (with matching green tennis shoes!). He and his band Dr. Bombay whipped the crowd into a frenzy in advance of Redfoo. His set included hits like "Car Wash", "Groove is in the Heart", "Walk This Way", "I Will Survive" and so many more. During "You Can't Always Get What You Want", Lee came into the crowd
dancing and shakin' maracas while the partygoers swayed and sang along. DJs Alex Cabot and Megan Taylor kept the crowd on the dance floor too! The program was emceed by NBC's Marion Brooks and The Mix's Eric Fergusion with auctioneer extraordinaire John
Walcher (Toomey & Co.) conducting the live auction that included exciting trips to the Peninsula in NY (with VIP tickets to "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon") (Thanks to committee members Maria Zec and Greg Hyder for the awesome hotel package and Museum of Broadcast Communication's Justin
Kulovsek for the incredible show tickets!). Even "Izzy" Idonije donated his time for the event by offering to host a dinner for 4 with HIM at a restaurant of his choice! (Wonder who those lucky winners were?!) Nina donated TWO popular and much coveted dinner packages at her beautiful Gold Coast home with Chefs Bill Kim and Tony Priolo and
Chicago Gateway Green offered an Expressway Site for One Year, which was another popular item. Over 30 restaurants participated (expertly curated by the Food Dude, David Lissner!) They included Gene & Georgetti's Restaurant, America's Dog, Bistronomic, Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse, Marchesa, Palm Restaurant, STK Chicago, Sunda, Katana, Tavern on Rush, Bang Bang
Pie, Adobo Grill and dozens more. Eli's Cheesecake donated an extraordinary cake that perfectly represented the evening's theme, shaped like a big green ham! Every year, this event draws bigger and bigger crowds and the new venue, the Geraghty, was the perfect fit for GTB 2018! The party celebrates the green spaces of the city that Chicago Gateway Green is instrumental in facilitating. Founded in
1986 by Donald J. DePorter, CGG has planted more than 4,000 trees, 80,000 shrubs and 130,000 perennials along with the removal of over 1.35 million pounds of litter! Champagne and tennis was theme of the night at The Laver Cup Opening Night black-tie celebration presented by Moët & Chandon in the Navy Pier Ballroom on Thursday, Sept. 20. This year’s second-ever Laver Cup, the first in Chicago, is the world’s first Team Europe vs. Team World tournament, created by Moët Global Ambassador and 20-time Grand Slam
champion, Roger Federer. The crowd gathered to pay homage to tennis legends Rod Laver, Bjorn Borg, and John McEnroe for their contributions to the sport. Guests enjoyed a Laver-themed opening rendition of Chicago The Musical, with lots of clever tennis references, before the players came together on-stage to announce each other, including Team Europe: Federer, Novak Djokovic,
Kyle Edmund, David Goffin, Alexander Zverev, Grigor Dimitrov, and Jeremy Chardy; and Team World: John Isner, Kevin Anderson, Diego Schwartzman, Jack Sock, Nick Kyrgios, Frances Tiafoe, and Nicolas Jarry. Party-
goers were in high spirits following the day’s announcement that Federer and Djokovic would team up to take on Sock and Anderson in Friday’s first round of closing doubles. Guests included Savannah Guthrie and Bastian Schweinsteiger and Ana Ivanovic, to name a few. Attendees enjoyed official tournament champagne, Moët & Chandon Imperial Brut, from golden goblets while the theatrical evening closed to a suspended tightrope performance.
And speaking of the Laver Cup, it was a thrill like none other when tennis legend Roger Federer, captain of Team Europe, made a luncheon appearance at Spiaggia on Tuesday, September 18 on behalf of Barilla (he was one busy guy that week!) He's an
ambassador for its Masters of Pasta global campaign which focuses on the simplicity and gastronomy of pasta. Ambassador and skiing legend Mikaela Shiffrin, 2-time Olympic Gold medalist and World Cup alpine skier, was also on hand to enjoy a cooking demo by Spiaggia's Executive Chef Joe Flamm. As the Top Chef, Season 15 winner, Joe definitely knows his way around a kitchen!
Several local influencers were on hand for this intimate luncheon and it was an honor to be included. Roger chatted amiably with every guest and shared stories of his youth. (Read Chicago Tribune's Amy Carr's interview here!) Amy, an accomplished tennis player herself, was seated next to Federer with JP Anderson
(Michigan Ave Mag) on his right. He spoke proudly about his family (wife Mirka and two sons), who are in town with him, and how much they were enjoying Chicago. Federer is also a Rolex spokesman, I couldn't help noticing his magnificent rose gold watch. The man is a class act from head to toe and Spiaggia was the perfect place to showcase him, Barilla and the Laver Cup! A “Garden Party In The Sky” was the theme for a memorable Sunday afternoon event with Queen Elizabeth's youngest son, HRH The Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, KH KCVO. The Sunday, September 16th soiree, co-chaired by Alexis Kertsikoff, Mary Lasky, Mary Claire Moll, Shauna Montgomery and Pam
Stamataky, was attended by 60+ local notables to benefit Films Without Borders, a charity for which the Prince has been a longtime supporter. The nonprofit is an award-winning U.K. registered charity that provides hands-on educational film-making workshops for youth between the ages of 15-19 living in challenging countries around the world. The spark of hope and imagination that this exposure to films and the process of film-making provides is life-changing for these
teens. FWB has done groundbreaking work in countries like Rwanda, Kenya and Nairobi as well as Palestine and the aboriginal communities in Australia. The event was attended by the UK's Kim Robson (FWB Advisory Committee member) and Jill Samuels (FWB founder and chair). Other guests who gathered for this intimate and relaxed afternoon with the Prince included Holly Hunt, Jim Karas, Paul Iacono, Frances
Renk, Stanley Manne, Dr. Jim Platis and his Katie, Dr. Chuck and his Kristine Kinder, Chuck Jordan, Jim Lasky, Fern Lentini, Christine and Chris D'Hondt, Kate Ferraro, Eleni Bousis, Tanya Geller, Andrew Sims, Beth Kies, Ken Moll and so many more. The party was held in the beautifully appointed private residence of Shauna and Barry Montgomery in their high rise above the Chicago River and overlooking Lake Michigan. Attendees enjoyed passed hors d'oeuvres prepared by Terrace 16's Chef Nick Dostal.
The Champagne (from Remington's restaurant) flowed along with wines selected for the occasion by Maple & Ash. Chris Calip (Mode Events) provided the British Invasion soundtrack for the royal afternoon. Fragrant florals from Green made guests feel like they were at an English garden party. As the Prince entered, the beautiful co-chairs bobbed their curtsies according to royal protocol. And, if anyone finds themselves in the company of English royalty, here are a few more tips--When you are first introduced, the
Prince is to be addressed as "Your Royal Highness", after that, you can carry on the conversation and call him "Sir." Men just bow their heads when introduced. A student film was presented during the party and it occurred to me that there might be some synergy between the Chicago International Film Festival and FWB! Sure enough, I connected Mimi Plauche (CIFF artistic director) with Jill Samuels (FWB) and Mimi felt the films might be perfect for the spring CineYouth Festival! So, friends
were made, connections struck and Edward was a perfect Prince Charming, chatting and mixing and mingling with guests looking so dapper in a double breasted blue blazer with a simple gold pinky ring bearing the royal crest. back to earth safely as shown in the wondrous film "Apollo 13" starring Tom Hanks (as Captain Lovell). On Sept. 8, the Adler Planetarium Women's Board hosted its Celestial Ball where Lovell was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award to commemorate the 50th anniversary of NASA's Apollo 8 mission, the 1st manned spaceflight to leave low
Earth orbit, reach the Moon and return safely in 1968. In dedicating his life to space exploration, Captain Lovell has inspired generations to dream bigger and rise to every challenge they encounter. Co-chaired by Lisa H. Bertagna and Mihra Seta, along with dinner chairs Pradip K. Patiath and James O'Connor Jr., the
event welcomed more than 700 guests who enjoyed a reception and a seated dinner followed by dancing, all under the Adler's stars. The Adler also recognized Magellan Corporation, led by president Bob Arthur, as its Corporate Partner Award honoree. Earlier this year, the Adler launched a Letters to Lovell campaign asking the community to share how he inspired them. Eight-year-old Hudson, who claims to be Lovell's biggest fan, was on hand to greet him that night! Awwwwww!!!
The grand opening of TAO Chicago on September 15 was one for the record books! Over 1000 lucky guests received a "first look" at this wildly popular nightclub that has locations in NY, Paris and beyond. (See video here!) Now, Chicago has its very own and aren't we feeling oh-so-grown-up?! From the moment you reach the property, which used to be the old Excaliber and before that, the Limelight, excitement reigned. Exotic models with mile-
high, intricately sculptured hair gyrated in front of a lighted backdrop as guests snapped away on their Iphones. The check-in lines went surprisingly quickly for so many people so this bodes well for its future as Chicagoans do NOT like standing in lines! Inside, it was all dark and moody, with different levels and performance
artists everywhere you looked. In the main dining room, where the ginormous 16-foot tall Quan Yin statue stands guard, piles and piles of seafood laying on beds of ice were there for the taking. I know some people who never left that table! Lol! TAO Group founders Rich Wolf, Marc Packer, Noah Tepperberg and Jason Strauss have nurtured the TAO brand through openings in NY, Las Vegas and LA since 2000. TAO Chicago is only the

Calling all Sinatra fans and who isn't? Hilton | Asmus Contemporary kicked off Sinatra: My Kind of Town, a curated exhibition of photographs from The Sinatra Collection with an intimate pre-opening dinner on September 16 for collectors and special guests. Amanda Erlinger, Frank Sinatra’s granddaughter,
was the guest of honor. The exhibition, in collaboration with Frank Sinatra Enterprises, features 30 framed limited-edition photographs. During the reception guests had the opportunity to view selected images from the historic collection which includes rare and vintage personal photos of Frank Sinatra from the Sinatra Family Archive, the Capitol Records and Warner Bros. Records archives and notable
photographers such as Terry O’Neill, Milton Greene, David Sutton and others. The collection also includes self-portraits taken by Frank himself in his formative years and photographs taken of him throughout his career. A selection of additional photographs, in acid-free sleeves, was
available for viewing. After a dinner hosted by Prosecco Restaurant, (an Italian family-style dinner which included some of Frank Sinatra’s favorite dishes) Bill Zwecker, entertainment reporter, led a Q&A with Amanda. Zwecker asked about the early days of the collection. “After my grandpa died, my grandma, Nancy, gave me a bunch of old file boxes filled with photos and said, “What should I do with all these photos?” I started going through them and
there were early photos of him that none of us had ever seen before. There were fan photos and memorabilia other people had sent to him. I knew I had to preserve them...We found 35mm ones that were the size of a thumbnail. They were so small we had to look at them through the loop. I began to digitally scan them, but
they were all low resolution. Then I began to work with a company who put them all into high resolution and it was amazing the things you could see in the intricacy of some of the photos. We also connected with Universal and they had Capital Records era photos. They had 4 x 5 original negatives and did a phenomenal job of preserving their photographs,” said Erlinger. Zwecker ended the Q&A with the question, “What
would you like people to know about your grandfather they may not know?’ Amanda responded, “He never lost his appreciation and gratitude for the opportunities he was given. He never stopped working. He felt indebted to his friends and fans, his musicians and producers, and to everyone who helped him with his creative craft. He’d be the first to tell you he didn’t always succeed in balancing his private and public life, but he always tried to walk the walk. Most of all he wanted his family to be proud of him because he was a family man first.” The exhibition opened on Thursday, Sept. 13 and runs through Friday, Oct. 26. The featured fine art prints are available for purchase and each image comes with a certificate of authenticity and is fully endorsed and licensed by the Frank Sinatra Estate. The Navy Seal Foundation hosted its 2018 Midwest Evening of Tribute on September 11 at the Hilton Chicago. The event raised $5 million in support of the Naval Special Warfare Community and its families and included a $1 million matching gift from philanthropist Ken Griffin (founder of Citadel Investments). Guests from all over the
Midwest, came together to recognize the courage, commitment and sacrifices of the NSW community. The evening began with a VIP roundtable discussion and cocktail reception. The discussion was led by Bill Strong (chairman/managing director of Longford Capital Management). Participants included Retired Vice Admiral (SEAL) Robert S. Harward who covered
current affairs and shared personal stories with those in attendance. As the beautifully decorated second-floor ballroom opened, guests made their way to their tables and viewed the presentation of the Colors by the Chicago Police Department’s Honor Guard. Next, Petty Officer First Class Steven Powell, USN, (Ret.)
sang a moving rendition of the National Anthem. Robin and Mike Zafirovski, well-known philanthropists and supporters of the Foundation, were presented with the distinguished 2018 Navy SEAL Foundation Patriot Award by Mr. Strong for their unwavering support, loyalty, perseverance and determination in helping others. “As individuals and as a family, Robin and Mike serve others in all they do and are called to a higher duty –
serving humanity,” said Strong. Upon accepting the award, both Robin and Mike spoke of patriotism and what it means to their family. They thanked their children Matt, Kirk and Todd, who were all in attendance, for their example and they expressed their gratitude for being honored by the Foundation. Retired Vice Admiral (SEAL) Robert S. Harward, Jr. delivered the evening’s keynote address and was introduced by his daughter, Maggie Worthington.
One of my fave designers, Pamella Roland (Pamella DeVos), was triumphant, of course, at her recent NYFW Spring/Summer 2019 Runway Show! The front row was filled with celebs like Nicky Hilton, Tessa Hilton, Tinsley Mortimer, TK Quann, Tara Swennen and Ashley Park plus cast members of Real Housewives of NY Dorinda Medley, Ramona Singer and Sonja Morgan. The show was held at Chelsea Piers on September 6 with a collection
inspired by the tranquil, colorful scenery and architecture of Bali. "We wanted to channel the aura of the island using color, textures, and embroideries, while staying true to our customer. Bold and soft colors are used to represent the water and wildlife found on the island. Sleek angles and lines in silhouettes represent Bali’s modern architecture, while ornate embroidery and fabric manipulation is employed to emulate Bali’s traditional elements," Pamella said. Patricia Frontain, founder of Patrick Lives On and script supervisor for NBC's Chicago PD hosted the 3rd Patrick Lives On event, a non-profit fundraiser held in memory of her son Patrick Boswell who lost his life due to senseless gun violence at the age of 14. The inspiring and fun-filled evening was held on
September 8 at The Chop Shop and was hosted by Chicago PD's LaRoyce Hawkins, accompanied by The Jeff Gibbs Band. Actors from NBC's Chicago PD, Fire and Med turned
out in force to support Patricia and honor her son's memory. A meet-and-greet with over 500 fans had cameras popping as the actors amiably posed with each and every person who attended. Their stamina
and kindness was so heartwarming....The evening also included fabulous food, a raffle, an exciting live auction and the actors appearing onstage with members of the audience in competitive fun and games! We recently had the pleasure, thanks to the Chicago International Film Festival (Cinema/Chicago), to view an advance screening of "A Star is Born" starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, who also served as the film's director. Gaga was magnificent, as you would expect, in her first leading role in a major motion picture. In a Q & A with Cooper following the 2 hour and 16 minute film, he said, "Gaga risked it all in every scene." And I can sure attest to that--this movie is riveting from beginning to end and, even though I balked at attending since I felt like I had seen this movie before, I was so glad to see THIS version! Cooper was so sexy with long hair and a raspy deep voice that rivaled
another co-star Sam Elliot's. Cooper said he trained with a voice coach for a year, 5 days a week, 4 hours a day to learn how to drop his voice an octave. Even though it was a little disappointing to see him come out with a super short hair cut and a much higher voice! Lol! The music visuals made you feel like you were right onstage (which were actually filmed at top concert festivals, IN PROGRESS, across the country. At one venue, Kris Kristofferson even shortened his set so Cooper could grab some concert footage of his own for the movie. I give it 4 stars! Let me know what YOU think! In theaters October 5! A kick-off event for Teatro Zinzanni was held in a cavernous, historic space atop the Cambria Hotel Chicago Loop-Theatre District hotel recently. Themed "Love, Chaos & Dinner", the dramatic fusion of circus, comedy and cabaret has been described as
the "Kit Kat Club on Acid"! The show will be held inside a rare Spiegeltent, a Belgian mirror tent filled with historic touches with a menu designed by Chicago's own Debbie Sharpe of The Goddess and Grocer fame.
