In an innovative move honoring the Chicago International Film Festival's 50th anniversary, legendary photographer Victor Skrebneski, in collaboration with Festival founder Michael Kutza, created an entirely new look for the
Fest's iconic poster. An unveiling at Expo 72 on September 10 featured a reimagining of the iconic 1974 Festival "t-shirt" poster. Titled "The Next Generation", this year's image featured a playful photo of Noah Warren (4) and Braden Crothers (5)--- the first time in history that children have been featured! The
original "t-shirt" poster is the centerpiece of a special gallery exhibition showcasing 50 years of the Festival at Expo 72 ( 72 E. Randolph), "Because Everybody Loves Movies". It features an expansive display of posters, images and
videos from the Festival's venerable five-decade history. Guests also enjoyed viewing Skrebneski photographs of celebrities and a video compilation of the Fest's trailers. Produced in partnership with the Department of Cultural
Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) and sponsored by Dark Horse Wine, the exhibition also presents candid glimpses from behind the scenes, memorabilia and posters from other festivals around the world. The exhibit will be on display until October 30. (Photos by Timothy M. Schmidt)

As we all know, Alderman Bob Fioretti (2nd Ward) announced his bid for Mayor of Chicago last week. Chuck and I attended the rally,
which had to be moved from its original location at the Wabash YWCA to a larger venue at the East West University. The event kicked off with a fabulous gospel choir as Bob's legion of supporters waved "Fioretti for Mayor" signs. The guy standing next to me had a great
campaign slogan..."Are you ready for Fioretti?" It was a lovefest and the crowd roared at every comment. "We need one Chicago, not two. And to get there, we need a leader who will focus on bringing everyone together to deliver results that improve the lives of every Chicago family, " said Fioretti, a Pullman native. I loved the fact he was introduced by longtime love Nicki Pecori. It was a heartfelt, kick-ass speech. Are YOU ready for Fioretti"! :-) Here's a video from his announcement by the Illinois Center for Broadcasting.
